Discrimination against adult students
- Active prejudice towards mature-age students
- Prejudicial treatment of adult students in education
Nature
Adult students may be discriminated against by the unthinking attitude expressed in the wording of letters and forms, the way in which queries and difficulties are handled, as well as in the way the written learning material is arranged; they may be treated as inferior to or less important than teenage students. They may be unaccustomed to formal learning and, not knowing how to study, need help in organizing themselves for this purpose, but may be ridiculed for needing such help.
