Collapse of vocational images

  • Unintegrated images of vocational roles
  • Breakdown in vocational images

Nature

New working conditions, new relationships, new technologies and new jobs have transformed people's daily engagement in society; and little remains of the vocational attitude or sense of calling common in the past, which reminded people who they were and what was expected of them. Individuals have no means of relating their own vocations, i.e. life work, with the social roles of others. There is no feeling whatsoever of the meaning of, or the relationship among, these roles in global terms.
