Avoidance of the irrational

The body of presently-articulated human wisdom does not encompass the irrational depths of humanness. The humanities are characterized by abstract rationalistic intellectualism or by shallow, superficial popularizations. This has resulted in: the rejection of the humanities as irrelevant to the experience of life; the rejection of the individual's own depths; or the apathetic rejection of both of these.
