There is an lack of symbolic ideas and images which would broaden the individual's horizons and stabilize his vision of the reason for existence. No contemporary mythology points to the inherent significance of the individual or gives a sense of what has lasting value. People today have difficulty recognizing their own human capabilities and significance, and have no comprehensive vision of their role in the past, present and future pageant of humanity.
