Thelema (Islam)
- Will
Description
This is the position of some Islamic theologians, the later Ash'arites, for whom God's love is equated with his will. In fact, God has has neither anthropomorphic nor anthropopathic attributes, he does not experience the pleasure of satisfied love. What has been called God's love is actually his willing good to (some) men. There is no purpose behind his willing good to some and evil to others. The pleasure man feels at the beatific vision is not because love is satisfied but an independent, though simultaneously created, pleasure.
