Suffering (Christianity)
Description
Jean-Pierre de Caussade indicates that physical illness and feebleness, unless it absolutely requires lying in bed, should be ignored. Battling with the duties of daily life when not feeling healthy is an exercice in faith and submission, and improves strength of mind which is weakened by indulgence. The body may be worked to death through following what is ordained by God. Once human ingenuity realizes its own feebleness then God's purpose is manifest, leading souls past mortal perils and carrying them to heaven.
