Spiritual marriage (Christianity)

The goal of Christian mysticism, spiritual marriage is seen as a permanent transformation of an individual's whole being through the love of God. This union occurs with complete detachment and perfect resignation from everything but God, and cannot be perfect unless the soul itself is perfectly purified and clean.
