Shock therapy

  • Insulin coma
  • Convulsive therapy

Description

Drug induced coma (using insulin) or convulsions followed by coma (using Metrazol, Cardiazol) have high success rates in treating schizophrenics and affective disorders as for manic depressives, and some success with psychosomatic conditions. Convulsive therapy is nowadays more commonly carried out using electroshock treatment (see separate entry) than with drugs.
