Searching-for-ox awareness (Zen)

Because the seeker, or ox-herd, has violated his own inmost nature, the ox is lost and the oxherd led out of his way by the deluding senses; desire for gain and fear of loss, ideas of right and wrong, all come and go, burning like fire while they last.
