Reverie

Description

A state of mind in which words come to presence bearing experiences and depth of meaning that originate outside a person's region of consciousness and identity. As control of language gives way to the words themselves, a state of mind develops in which mind occurs in awareness of itself as words come forth. A spaciousness emerges, a space of allowance, that nurtures words and relations of words. Fantasies grow and take on lives of their own, enabling the person to live through the sounds of a poem. There is an awareness without concepts and a deep unfolding of mind's engendering. The person may witness the mind's reflecting itself to itself in words of creation, learning through reverie to hear what is not spoken and appears initially incomprehensible. Heeding and disclosure of things outside the person's identity are the prominent characteristics.
