Replication of Christ (ICA)

  • Imitation of Christ

Description

This is the re-inventing by the individual of the style of total permission-giving, which creates hope in a new situation; when someone lends his being unconditionally to any situation. It may be compared to the woman in India who wrapped herself around a tree to protect it from being felled by those who sought to do away with India's traditional woodcutters. Although she was cut to pieces, her sacrifice initiated the Shipko movement which continues to protect the right of woodcutters to maintain their livelihood.

Context

In the ICA New Religious Mode in the arena of being the presence of transcendence (the life of chastity) the fourth formal aspect is spiritual creativity, in which a person's entire being is devoted to guarding the spirit dimension of existence. At the fourth phenomenological level, this occurs when one perceives the void at the centre of existence, and continues to live out the absurdity.
