Released soul's perception (Hinduism)

  • Muktajnana
  • Omniscience
  • Knowledge of liberated souls

Description

Discriminative knowledge of the self generates a trance that continuously furnishes the intuition of the self as completely isolated from the mind-body complex (Patanjali). Constant intuition of the self arises when all potencies of actions and subconscious impressions of experience are destroyed. Knowledge of the self is infinite as all taints which veil it are destroyed. Even though in the embodied state, the self is liberated. It is unaffected by modifications in the gunas of prakriti (nature). There is immediate knowledge of the self and the universe, which nevertheless does not affect the released soul. The past is known as existing in the past, the future as existing in the future. Free from the bondage of physical existence, the omniscient person is free from the fetters of karma-matter and mundane existence. There is a supersensuous vision of the whole world, past, present and future.
