Description

This refers to the straight state of the three aggregates of feeling, perception and formation or mental activities. The characteristic is uprightness of the mental body, the function is to crush its tortuousness or crookedness. It is manifest as non-crookedness, non-deflection. Mental factors are the proximate cause. It is the opponent of corruptions like deceit or fraud, deception or craftiness, causing tortuousness in the mental body. Rectitude of mental body and rectitude of consciousness are considered together.

Context

One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the constant states which appear in their true nature, and as profitable primary (always present in any profitable or profitable-resultant consciousness).
