Rational, calculative thinking

Description

As opposed to [intuitive, meditative thinking]

, which is concerned with ontological reality, [rational, calculative thinking]

is the calculative mode which predominates in modern, secular, technological society and is concerned with the ontic level of material being. This mode is said to be associated with a loss of awareness both of the true ground of being and of the sense of awe and wonder inherent in such awareness. Reality is seen as a duality of subject and object, as the objective world to be conquered by the will of man.
