Pseudo-hallucination
Description
Unlike true hallucinations, these perceptions without external stimuli are usually supposed to lack substantiality and to appear in inner as opposed to outer space - although some claim that they are not seen with the inner eye but, like true hallucinations, experienced as if through the sense organs. They are, however, subjective and the person experiencing them is aware that they that they are produced by his or her imagination, referring to them as "visions". The experience seems to be somewhere intermediate between imagery and true hallucination, although it may slide into a true hallucination. The subjectivity of the experience and the fact that it is not shared by others has led to the assertion that the apparitions and voices experienced by mediums and clairvoyants are actually pseudo-hallucinations.
