Primary growth
Description
Human life is generally defined according to biological limits and considered as a process in three stages - growth (childhood, adolescence), permanence (adulthood), decadence (old-age, senility). It is thus defined in terms of time. Primary growth is that which covers the process of development of a child from infancy through adolescence to the final mutation as an adult, when primary growth ceases. At the same time as corporal development and organic maturation there is rapid psychic development. It constitutes, at least in part, a biological demand on the organism and in general may be said to respond to internal laws of the organism, taking elements from wherever is available to accomplish an inner developmental logic. Primary growth is contrasted with maturity growth which does not recognize time limits.
