Prayer of simplicity (Christianity)

  • Second degree of prayer
  • Prayer of repose
  • Prayer of silence

Description

Having become aware of a facility in recognizing the presence of God, the soul collects itself more easily, prayer is natural and pleasing and the soul knows it leads to God. Bringing one's self into the presence of God by an act of faith, one remains silent. There may be a taste of the presence of God. If this state of peace leaves, it may be brought back through exciting the will through some tender affection. This going to God is to please Him and do His will. Since it is not to obtain things from Him, one will not be disappointed by times of aridity, not by His apparent indifference or repulses.
