Practice of the confidence (Christianity)

On a regular basis the person has open, sincere and detailed conversation about his personal life with his spiritual director. This brings complete openness and understanding. Although the practice was previously an important part of the life of a religious order, generally taking place yearly or half-yearly (but currently in Opus Dei once a week), it is said to be open to abuse and was banned by the Catholic Church in 1890.
