Plane of austerity (Lila)

Here the player as witness sees that karma remains and can be carried no longer; it must be worked off in austerities, penance and mortification. He may have reached this stage direct through sudharma (apt religion), or through gradual progression as conscience develops and sun/moon energy system are balanced. There is no further attraction to the phenomenal world and although the body is limited the player is not. He reveals the divine.

The 50th state or square on the board of Lila, the game of knowledge, appearing in the sixth row. This is the sixth of eight lokas represented on the spine of the board and marking a stage in the development of the individual's consciousness. The first seven represent a psychic centre or chakra on the spine of the human body, a level of psychic evolution. An eighth loka lies beyond the chakras. Each loka is defined by the nature of the matter of which it is composed. The eight other states in the same row may be considered as special regions within the loka.
