Pingala conscious energy (Yoga)

Description

Pingala is the energy channel to the right of Shushumna in Tantra and Kundalini-Yoga. Physiological correspondence lies in the sympathetic nervous system. Psychological correspondence is creative power, symbolized by the sun. Pingala is, like Ida and Shushumna, one of the major nadis of the body. Modern literature strongly suggests the parallelism between tantric introspective findings about the structure of the nervous system and modern medical fact. Although in outline the concept Nadi is not identical with nerve(s), specific analogies between the structure of chakras and corresponding cerebral and spinal nerve-organization have been observed. Note the correspondence to the right side of the Tree of Life with the findings on brain hemisphere coordination, in which the left brain (connecting to the right-side of the body) refers to analytic-rational functions; and likewise, the right hemisphere, referring to synthetic-emotional functions, corresponds to Ida.
