Before the conception of objects, when the outside world appears as part of and within the organism which is perceiving, there is a feeling of omnipotence sometimes referred to as [oceanic feeling]

. The experience may include an awareness of extending beyond habitual limits of space (merging) or of time (timelessness). This occurs not only in very small children but also to adults suffering from delusions.
