An-Nur (Sufism)

Description

The believer is aware of Allah as the light making apparent the whole creation. When the heart is illuminated by the light of faith, the devil and the ego will not enter. The gate to the heart, the mind, is illuminated by knowledge which extinguishes the evil of ignorance, hypocrisy, imagination and arrogance. Similarly, the soul needs the light of consciousness. The physically blind may be lead by the hand, but the blind heart is lost forever.

Context

A mode of mystical awareness in the Sufi tradition associated with the ninety-third of the ninety-nine names of Allah.
