Merging with the ordinary world (Taoism)

From the perspective of Taoism, the challenge for those who have achieved illumination is to merge with the ordinary world in order to channel its processes more appropriately. For the practitioner, this involves the art of mixing with people of varying degrees of enlightenment without revealing his inner state. It is a question of being in the world and yet transcending it, responding to people and yet remaining autonomous. The phenomena of the world are used to practice the principles of Tao.
