Melting (Christianity)
- Speaking forth
Description
Meister Eckhart speaks of transcendent God continuously melting out into the Trinity as person, as speaking forth, as creating and sustaining the whole universe, and of the individual soul reenacting the same. This is the paradox. Out of the depths of mystery there is a total uttering so that nothing is left unuttered. The expression and the truth expressed are one reality. One only truly lives to the extent that one is caught up in and shares the Trinity. The three persons of the Trinity melt out of each other and into each other in the divine nature which all three share. The process is also referred to as glowing or boiling. All is balanced and controlled. Normally when one acts there is a pouring into the world and into relationships that implies dissipation of energy; but here there is no dissipation, there is a pouring out while inwardly detached, simultaneously being in movement and yet at rest.
