Meditative prayer
Description
As opposed to contemplation, this form of prayer proceeds according to discursive reason. Having previously delimited the subject matter of the meditation, and made a preparatory prayer, the subject is represented in the imagination by application of the senses, the whole man is turned to God in unrestrained interior prayer. For much of the individual's religious development, meditation is considered indispensable for really interior and personal prayer.
