Meditation way of the four truths (Buddhism)
- Chatvari satvani
- Bden-pa-bzhi (Tibetan)
Description
This is a supplemental exercise to the concentrations and absorptions, and consists of analytical meditations on the four truths and on the four aspects of each - for example, on the aspect of impermanence within the first noble truth of suffering existence (duhkhasatya). The sixteenth aspect discloses that the wisdom of realizing the non-existence of individual personality is the path to deliverance.
Context
This way takes the practitioner beyond the absorptions (arupaya samapatti) according to Tibetan Gelugpa Buddhism.
