Mass hypnosis
Description
Groups of people may be hypnotized to a greater or lesser extent en masse, whether deliberately or unintentionally, by a variety of means adopted by a speaker and/or by the playing of loud, rhythmic music. An audience can thus be lead to concentrate more deeply on and to accept unconditionally the content of what is being said. Many charismatic leaders are said to have a hypnotic effect on their audience. The beneficial effects of some religious or healing meetings may depend to some extent on the hypnotic state of the participants.
