Description
This refers to the malleability or pliancy of the aggregate of consciousness. The characteristic is suppressing or quieting rigidity of the citta, the function is to crush its stiffening. It is manifest as non-resistance. Consciousness is the proximate cause and it is the opponent of defilements causing stiffness in the citta. Malleability of mental body and malleability of consciousness are considered together.
Context
One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the constant states which appear in their true nature, and as profitable primary (always present in any profitable or profitable-resultant consciousness).
