Maharishi effect

  • Theory of collective consciousness
  • Enhancing coherence of collective consciousness

Description

When a required number of individuals participate in the Maharishi Technology of the Unified Field, then there is increased positive change in society and world events. It is postulated that there is a relationship between individual consciousness, collective consciousness and the unified field of natural law. It is also said that there is a relationship between violence and stress in collective consciousness and that world peace can be achieved through creation of coherence in collective consciousness at all levels of society. Research indicates that if one percent of a population participates in the transcendental meditation programme or if the square root of one percent of a population participates together in group practice of the TM-Sidhi programme then there is a measurable and holistic influence of harmony and integration of the entire population. Slightly more than 7,000 persons collectively practising the Maharishi technology of the unified field would raise the level of coherence in collective consciousness so as to provide a stable basis for lasting world peace. This is because, in systems governed by wavelike interactions, the strength of elements interacting coherently is proportional to the square of their number while of those acting incoherently only to their number, so that the coherent influence outweighs the incoherent.
