Description
This refers to the lightness or quickness of the three aggregates of feeling, perception and formation or mental activities. The characteristic is suppressing or quieting heaviness of the mental body, the function is to crush its heaviness. It is manifest as non-sluggishness. Mental factors are the proximate cause and it is the opponent of stiffness and torpor causing heaviness in the mental body. Lightness of mental body and lightness of consciousness are considered together.
Context
One of the formations aggregate (mental coefficients) of Hinayana Buddhism, being listed among the constant states which appear in their true nature, and as profitable primary (always present in any profitable or profitable-resultant consciousness).
