Life-state bardo awareness (Buddhism)

  • First antarabhava consciousness (Tibetan)
  • Bardo of birth

Description

This state of awareness is of the intermediate sphere of existence from birth to death. It is illumined by meditation on the arising of all phenomena from mind, and on the dissolution of all phenomena into their source. The contents of the bardos of the dream-state, of the meditation-state, and of the life-state, constitute, in a large part, the determining characteristics of the bardos in the after-life.

Context

This is one of the six major bardo existences in Tibetan Buddhism.
