Kensho jobutso (Zen)

Description
As the result of [zazen]
meditation, the practitioner begins to experience an awakening enlightenment when he has moments of [satori]
which are referred to as [kensho]
. The first traces of enlightenment give the impression that one is becoming a buddha - [jobutso]
. This is the delusion of the ordinary person - [bonpu-no-joshiki]
. However, as one continues to practice the experiences of enlightenment deepen and strengthen until one is aware of one's buddha nature - [bussho]
- as something that was always present although not realized. The experience of passing through these stages is referred to as [kensho jobutso]
- the realization of becoming a buddha.
