Invocation

This is a process where a god or spirit is invoked through ritual chanting or other ceremony, perhaps to enter the body of a magician who will then be enabled to carry out otherwise impossible feats for the benefit of those conducting the ceremony. The term is also used for the prayer used at the commencement of a church service.
