Intelligible intuition (Buddhism)
- Yogi-pratyaksa
- Direct intuition
Description
Normal intuition is sensuous, explanations by the understanding in vague and general images or concepts following a moment of bright and vivid reality. In contrast, the intelligible intuition of the saint is of the intellect, understanding as directly as the feeling in the first moment of sensation is felt. Rather than approaching reality through limited constructions based on dialectical concepts it is contemplated directly, free from illusion.
