Hatred awareness

  • Hate

Description

This has been defined as a "mental state of revulsion from something that offends" and implies ill will and the desire to harm or do away with the object of hatred. Unlike anger, which normally passes according to mood, hate usually denotes a continuity of attitude and one which consciously makes plans against the object of hatred. It is held to be the opposite of love, which desires the good of its object. Where love may be blind to defects, hatred sees only defects and takes pleasure in dwelling on them, while it is blind to good qualities. Interestingly, love may turn to hatred which is all the more bitter because of once having loved.

Hate may also be considered the reverse of love in that it creates duality and separation. It is also the reverse of brotherhood. It is due to a concentration on form rather than on what the form reveals, and results from ignorance, a sense of personality and a misapplication of desire.
