Greed (Lila)

Although his material needs are satisfied, the player feels unfulfilled. Since his skills are only those for maintaining physical existence, he forever seeks fulfilment in acquisition of material things and is forever disappointed. Greed arises from lack of belief in providence and misidentification with the self, bringing insecurity. Its positive aspect is manifest in greed for the spiritual, for knowledge and for love.

The fourth state or square on the board of Lila, the game of knowledge, appearing in the first row. The 4 represents impetus towards completion, manifested materially as greed.
