Existential vacuum
Description
This is a state described by Viktor E Frankl which is characterized by a feeling of meaninglessness, an inner void. The individual, being human, cannot be driven simply by instinctual drives like an animal. On the other hand, the breakdown of values and traditions means that he or she has no other source of direction for activities and sometimes has no idea what to do, not even sure of his or her own wishes. One result is the dehumanization, devaluation and inflation of sex.
