Double mindedness

Description

Apparent insincerity or hypocrisy in an individual's behaviour may be due to a certain fraction of the complex personality being so split off from the rest that it acts "on its own account" and, momentarily at least, forgets its relation to the whole. Sometimes such inconsistent attitude or behaviour may be accompanied consciousness of a haunting sense of lack of harmony.
