Divine indwelling

As a person progresses on the spiritual path, the inner presence of God becomes apparent. Doctrines differ on the precise meaning of this "indwelling", whether it is different in kind from God's presence in all things (as a special gift of grace), or whether it is the same form of indwelling as occurs in the whole creation but, as the individual is perfected, the way is cleared for it to show. One of the deepest mysteries of the Christian faith, it brings Christian doctrine close to the doctrine of unity or oneness with God common to eastern religious.
