Conscientization
Description
This is the process by which the individual learns to perceive social, political and economic contradictions and to take action against the oppressive elements of reality. It involves seeing the distinction between the inevitability of nature and the changeableness of cultures, thereby seeing through arguments that blur the distinction and exploring available alternatives. Such a process acts as critical vehicle for challenging the social, political and religious status quo.
