Community spirit
Description
Community has been defined (Ernest Kurtz) as being created when people seek the same spiritual reality. A community flourishes largely to the extent that the individuals within it have a positive feeling about it. The self-image includes confidence and hope in the future, a belief that the community and the people it comprises are worthwhile, capable of developing and maintaining progress whatever the current situation. Such a spirit arises when individuals are neither lulled by complacency, on the one hand, nor defeated and fatalistic on the other.
