Communion with deity

  • Communion with God
  • Eucharist

Description

To Meister Eckhart, taking of communion in the mystical eucharist is not something done by man but by God. Normally what one eats is transformed into one's self. Here it is God who transforms us into himself. Outwardly one is eating but inwardly one is being eaten, becoming food for God. Similarly, one does not pray but is prayed. In this prayer than can be no question of not being answered. One is not only united with God, one becomes God. Having become nothing, having let go of self and creatures, one is filled with the infinity of God.
