Celestial plane (Lila)
- Swarga-loka
Description
Beyond material and sensual realms, the player begins to comprehend the nature of his own identity and look to immortality of the ego in a heaven of infinite pleasure beyond pain and suffering, the goal of all religion. He issues challenges and asserts himself. This is the domain of Indra, where organs of sense and activity are mastered, the home of saints and devotees. Things still exist on the physical plane but in harmony, without lower desires, attachments or greed.
Context
The 23rd state or square on the board of Lila, the game of knowledge, appearing in the third row. This is the third of eight lokas represented on the spine of the board and marking a stage in the development of the individual's consciousness. The first seven represent a psychic centre or chakra on the spine of the human body, a level of psychic evolution. An eighth loka lies beyond the chakras. Each loka is defined by the nature of the matter of which it is composed. The eight other states in the same row may be considered as special regions within the loka.
