Bottomless centre

Description

This is experienced as a void at the centre of being; when one encounters one's own death or the meaninglessness of one's life in relation to the sweep of history. It may be compared to the woman in the book "The Sybil" experiencing having been raped by the mystery.

Context

In the New Religious Mode in the arena of knowing and doing intensified in one's life (life of being) the first formal aspect is the experience of transparent selfhood or the experience of noughtness. At the first phenomenological level this occurs when one experiences discontinuity at the centre of one's life.
