Blissful seizure (ICA)

Description

This occurs when an individual has seen the final tragedy of his life and is overcome by an almost euphoric sense of well being. Life is blissful. What a time to be alive. Every nerve in his body shouts with excitement. "My God, I could have missed it – the greatness of living this moment". In gratitude, he is released from paralysis, filled with joy; and this becomes bountiful food for the rest of his life. All veils are wiped away and the white hot magnificence of everything is present. In Greek mythology, this is the moment when Odysseus returns from his travels and discovers the fidelity of his wife Penelope.

A dimension of this experience is a sense of awe, that is fear and fascination. The individual is aware of bursting with ecstasy and almost out of control, and yet fascinated with the sheer wonder of the moment. The decision is to bask in this moment, to dance with it; and that it is right to understand all that is going on. The rest of life is lived knowing what real joy and contentment are.
