Awareness of the ultimate reality

  • Vivekajam jnanam (Yoga)
  • Transcendence of time

Description

Performing samyama on the process of time leads to a knowledge born of the awareness of the ultimate reality, the discrimination and knowledge being so far beyond what are normally termed discrimination and knowledge that it is actual awareness. Although it can be thought of as passing from a less to a more real state of consciousness, which is normally a matter of discernment, here the change is tremendous. Even those things which are normally indistinguishable by ordinary methods, which can be distinguished by the time factor alone, may now be distinguished. This is the highest knowledge, the ultimate objective of yoga, the only knowledge which is not relative, when all objects and processes are cognized simultaneously: past, present and future and transcending the world process. Although the world of the real is seen, the world of the relative is not left behind, simply it is seen in its true nature and perspective. Thus the self-realized yogi lives and works in the relative world unaffected by the illusions created by Prakriti.
