Awareness of the divine presences (Sufism)
- Hadarat
- Hadrat
Description
In the Sufi Ibn Arabi there are five divine presences in the celestial worlds of conscious being. The same term (hadarat, hadrat) may be used for holy presences, as titles of respect: for Allah, saints, the Prophet, or any Koran-learned man. The presence (hadara, hudur) of Allah or the spiritual in the life of the pious is therefore expressed of different levels, also by the Dervishes who call their Friday service hadra; and by Ibn Khaldun, who refers to a Plotinian word of divine emanations as hadarat.
