Anthroposophical system

  • Anthroposophy

Description

Literally [wisdom about man]

, anthroposophy is a system developed by Rudolf Steiner as a means of arriving at true knowledge and liberation from enslavement to the material world. Derived but distinguished from [theosophy]

, anthroposophy postulates two selves in each person, the lower self which knows and the higher ego which is known; and a previous mode of consciousness, from which man's present intellectual capacity has evolved, which brought direct experience of the [transcendental]

, the clairvoyance of ancient times. It teaches that Christ is the one divine manifestation or [avatar]

, making possible a "resurrection" of consciousness which will enable the clarity and objectivity of the present day intellect to be carried into new modes of spiritual perception - [Imagination]

, [Inspiration]

and [Intuition]

. As a path of knowledge, anthroposophy aims to guide the spiritual in the human being to the spiritual in the universe; this knowledge being communicated in a spiritual way. "At the very frontier where the knowledge derived from self-perception ceases, there is opened through the human soul itself the further outlook into the spiritual world". Methods for growth are prescribed at four levels of apprehension corresponding to four levels in the self.
