Annihilation of the heart (Sufism)

Ordinary consciousness disappears and all activity is referred to God. Everything but God is totally forgotten by the heart, knowledge of external things is lost, all that remains is love for God, for whose love man was created. In this state, the devotee can accept with patience the trials and tribulations of life and is resigned to the will of God. Rank, wealth and the joys of human love are not the objects of his desire, only to be always conscious of God.
