Angelic awareness - Zoharariel
- Ariel
- Jeu
Description
This mode of awareness is represented as the theophanic consciousness, wherein the ego confronts its god, its archetypal forefather. In Jewish mysticism associated with ascension through the heavenly palaces (nekaloth) to reach god's throne (merkabah), the object of the quest is said to have been the vision of Zoharariel, a secret name of God in the aspect in which he discloses himself. Disclosed, as an object of awareness, he is an angel, that is, a subjective experience in the consciousness. Zohar-ariel means splendour-lion. To this name is added the four-letters JHVH to show its divinity. Ariel was also the name given to the prototypal Jerusalem, the heavenly city and its ruler, and seems to have been the older name for the lion-headed gnostic demiurge Iadalbaoth, also known as Iao and as Jeu (the name that is included in Jesu). He also may be identified with Abraxas, Brahma, and Janus, who like JHVH are fourfold or manifold divinities pointing to the indefiniteness of the Real in its experiential aspect.
